How Fresh Are 'Newest Shopify Stores' Lists, Really? We Checked the Dates

A newest stores list is only worth what its dates say. We purchased a competitor's premium daily export on two days, counted the registration dates they publish themselves, and compared them to ours.

Fresh-store intelligence team

The only thing that makes a "new store" list valuable is that the stores are actually new

Many store intelligence tools market a "newest Shopify stores" feed, and the headline is usually a big number. Six thousand, seven thousand new stores a day. But a launch list is only useful if the stores on it launched recently. A store registered eight months ago is not a lead you want to be the first to reach.

So we did the simple thing nobody publishes. We bought a competitor's premium export, and we counted the dates.

The method

On September 9 and 10, 2026 we purchased StoreSift's premium daily "newest Shopify stores" export. Every row includes a Registered date that StoreSift provides itself. We did not estimate or infer anything. We simply counted, using their own dates, how many stores in each daily batch were registered recently versus months ago. Then we ran the identical check on FisherLeads.

Share of each daily list that was actually registered recently

What the dates showed

StoreSift premium exportTotal in batchRegistered in last 2 daysRegistered 30+ days agoRegistered 180+ days ago
September 97,4411,783 (24.0%)about 51%12.6%
September 106,7541,742 (25.8%)about 55%16.9%

Two days in a row, only about a quarter of the "newest Shopify stores" were registered in the last two days. More than half were registered over a month ago, and roughly one in seven were more than six months old. The headline count was six to seven thousand. The genuinely recent count was closer to 1,700.

How FisherLeads compares

We held ourselves to the same test, on a larger sample of 25,060 live Shopify stores that went live on FisherLeads in the last 7 days.

Share registered more than 30 days ago

Registration age at go liveFisherLeadsStoreSift (average of both days)
Within 3 days98.7%about 25%
Older than 30 days0.0%about 53%

On FisherLeads, 98.7% of live Shopify stores were registered within three days of going live, and zero percent were older than 30 days. That is not a coincidence. Our engine is built to admit only genuinely recent launches, so an aged domain cannot pad the count.

What "new" should actually mean

New means registered days ago, not months ago

There is a real and honest distinction here. A domain registered years ago can host a brand new store, and catching that moment is hard and valuable. But that is not the same as a list where the majority of entries were simply registered months ago and are presented as this morning's launches. If you are paying to be early, the dates have to be early.

How to check any "new stores" list yourself

You do not have to take anyone's word, including ours. Any real launch list should give you a registration or launch date on every row. Export a day's batch, sort by that date, and count how many fall inside the window you actually care about. This week, not this year. If most of the list is months old, you are paying launch prices for stale data.

Why we built FisherLeads around this

FisherLeads exists for one job. Catch newly launched Shopify stores and business websites while they are still new, and prove the date. Every store carries the day its domain was registered and the day its storefront went live, so you can verify freshness yourself on every single row. That is the whole product.

Frequently asked questions

Are 'newest Shopify stores' lists actually new?

Not always. In StoreSift's premium daily export on September 9 and 10, 2026, only about 25% of the stores were registered in the last two days, and more than half were registered over 30 days earlier, by StoreSift's own dates.

How fresh are FisherLeads new Shopify stores?

In a sample of 25,060 live Shopify stores from the last 7 days, 98.7% were registered within three days of going live and 0% were older than 30 days.

How can I tell if a new store list is really new?

Export a daily batch, sort by the registration or launch date each row carries, and count how many fall inside your window. If most are months old, the list is aged.

What is the difference between a newly registered domain and a newly launched store?

A domain can be old while the store is new. Good data shows both dates so you can tell a real launch from an aged domain, and separate that from a list that is simply old.
